History and Prospects

History:

Our school is located at the base of Guizi Mountain in Taishan District, New Taipei City, covering approximately 62 hectares with scenic landscapes and impressive surroundings. It was founded in early 1963 (Republic of China Year 52) with funding donated by Mr. Wang Yung-Ching, the founder of Formosa Plastics Group.

Mr. Wang placed great importance on physical education and athletics, organizing the Formosa Plastics Group Sports Games, which has been held 35 times to date. He was a strong supporter of constructing athletic facilities and hosting various sports events, allowing Ming Chih students to develop well-rounded character and receive a holistic education in this excellent environment.

The Physical Education Office was established at the founding of the school as part of the Guidance Division under the Department of Physical Education and Health. In August 1987 (Republic of China Year 76), a separate Health Care Section was formed, and the office was renamed the Physical Education Section. When the school was upgraded to a technical college in 1999, the Physical Education Section remained under the Office of Student Affairs, responsible for sports education and the organization of school-wide athletic activities. In 2004, the school transitioned to a university of technology, and the Physical Education Section was promoted to a first-tier unit, renamed the Physical Education Office.
